Powerbrokers International Leadership Placements.
International (China, Hong Kong, Singapore, USA, Jamaica, Barbados, India, Senegal and Brazil)
Freshwaters Consultancy was commissioned to scope, design, develop and deliver international placements aimed at UK-based mid-career leaders from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds to develop as leaders in dynamic and culturally diverse work environments where the focus is on their talent and skills.
To do this, we brokered relationships with creative and cultural industry organisations and worked collaboratively to shape the leadership placement in line with the CLP’s diversity, work-based learning and international objectives.
We then sourced and selected the best possible candidates for these innovative and prestigious opportunities.
To ensure that the leaders fully benefited from the placements, we produced an innovative leadership development support programme, which included the use of talent and strengths, work based and reflective learning. As a result, we helped the CLP to recognise the added value of strengths in leadership development. We also brokered relationships with the British Council’s offices in the various regions, and aligned the CLP and British Council’s visions and objectives for the benefit of leaders.

“As the Powerbrokers International Leadership Placement consultant, Maureen Salmon provided inspirational one-to-one sessions and a quality that, in the context of my unconscious resistance to having any leadership skills, can only be described as alchemy ... Due to her skills, I was able to answer the question ‘What does success look like?’ with ‘Success looks like me'.”
Maxine Miller,
Digital Resources Associate, National Library of Jamaica
“Maureen was a sensitive and inspirational source of knowledge and guidance throughout my (PILP) placement. The 1-1 sessions she guided me in were life changing, and enabled me to make some big and difficult decisions in my career. She took time to hear my story and steered me in appropriate directions to fulfil my development needs. The results were astounding – friends say that I am literally glowing with confidence and optimism. Maureen’s guidance has unlocked my self-belief. I feel empowered and full of positive energy. Which will no doubt be a good thing as I launch myself into new career pastures!”
